Who knew velvet could be so cool? I used to cringe at the sight of it... But after looking at those adorable velvet high-waisted shorts from Alexa Chung's collection for Madewell, I have developed a slight fondness for it... A SLIGHT fondness only, I'm not about to do the whole Middle-ages velvet robes thing.

I love Alexa's collection, ecspecially the peter-pan collared dresses and the long skirts. The colours are so simple and beautiful. I usually find neutrals a bit of a bore, but these are too cute! Here are my favourites from the collection:

Alexa Chung is a genius. She seriously seems to have a sixth sense that enables her to source out the most amazing clothes in the world. How does she find all this stuff?!?! I suppose being invited to sit front row at Fashion Week helps, but, seeing as this will probably never be an option for me, I'll just have to settle for sitting and gawping in admiration at her outfits. I would pay a million dollars just to swap brains with her for A DAY, so I could go shopping. And maybe get her to slip me a bit of cash too. Maybe I'm being unrealistic? I'm going to just have to study her wardrobe.

How adorable is this dress from Louis Vuitton Resort '11? This is one of those many things that you look at in a magazine and exclaim, "Oh my gosh, I love that!", only to glance at the label for the photo and groan with disappointment. Voila, it's Vuitton. There goes my excitement. This always seems to happen to me, maybe I should start reading Target catalogues instead of Vogue? But I don't think this is ever going to happen. I love eyeing off beautiful clothes, the adoration makes me forget that I will never own what I am lusting over.

Wish list

It's my birthday on the 18th, and that REALLY gets me in the mood for new things. Even though I'm kinda in that mood permanently. Anyway, this is quite a far-fetched list. I know I definately won't get all or even most of these things, but it's nice to dream! Also, this isn't specifically a birthday wish list, just a list of things I love and want right now...

* A Modcloth coat, particularly the First Brass or the Big City Blues... (I know it's spring, but Modcloth has the most adorable coats! Make sure you suss it out: modcloth.com)

* New sunnies- I'm lusting over the Super Lucia pair at General Pants...

* Wittner Buddy boots.

* A wicker basket for the front of my bike.

* A sewing machine.

* American denim high-waisted cut-offs- Simply because they go with anything...

Starting afresh.

Hi!

If you've glanced at this blog before, you might have noticed that I've deleted all my posts, changed the URL and basically given it a good spring cleaning.

I don't really know why I did it, but I suppose it has something to do with so much new stuff happening that I just felt that the only way this blog could adapt to all the newness was if the blog became new itself. It won't be entirely different, but I will be doing more posts on fashion. There will still be pretty pictures, don't you worry. But I seem to have become all the more interested in clothing and I just love trawling through style.com and vintage sites so I have decided to start again and change my direction...
